DAY 1
We touched down in the evening around 2pm. We flew MAS and as always lunch was served but I guess the Malaysian caterer has much room for improvement as the food was not spectacular.
By the time we reached Butterfly On Victoria, Hong Kong, it was almost 4pm (local time). So we unpacked a bit and washed up and headed out in search for food!
We boarded the MTR from Tin Hau to Causeway Bay to stop at Man Fai's Teo Chew Noodle shop. MTR is very very efficient and so there is nothing to explicitly plan, just name the place you wanna go and most of the famous place is within reach via MTR.

I also grabbed two of these Nature Republic aloe vera gel because it was way cheaper in HOng KOng compared to back home (RM8 Vs RM30) <3
DAY 2
When we came to Hong Kong, we decided that we would try to be as leisurely as possible since that is the whole idea of getting out of the country for a breakaway from the hustling bustling working life back home. So, we did not wake up too early, around 7.30am and headed out around 8.30am. Boarded the MTR to Central Station for this...| Wah Xing Bing Shi Left: Condensed milk and butter toasted bun Right: HK Milk Tea Quite a pleasant place to have your breakfast here as it is not the typical hong kong noisy rude coffee shop |
Wah Xing Menu. As you can probably tell, the prices are not cheap.
The main reason for being here is because of the bottom left dish: Truffle scramble egg. It was... OK. Nothing to shout about. The pork bun (non-halal) was better than most places though
After a hearty (and considreably expensive) breakfast, we then took the MTR back to Vctoria Park (Tin Hau) We figured we should do some morning walk before our next makan (malay word for food) stop.
A flower in Victoria Park near our hotel
After having adequate "fresh air" from strolling in the park, we adjourn to Harbour City (Tsim Tsa Tsui). Nothing much there for me, unless you are a branded goods shopper, then you can give this place a skip. They have Uniqlo, GAP, etc etc but nothing we can't find back home I guess? :P
Lunch Time! Took MTR to Central station to look for the infamous Mak's Wanton Noodle!
Srpingy noodles, generous prawn-filled wanton with soup that will warm your soul. Haha! MUST MUST TRY!
We ordered blanched Hong Kong Kai Lan here too in case we get constipation from overloading ourselves with meat and non-vege dishes!
Then, we went to take away Yat Lok Roasted Duck because we were going to Victoria peak right after. No photo of the shop because we were rudely welcomed by the busy woman shop owner. She practically shouted at us to line up, but this is not something to be surprised with because most Hong Kong restaurants owners and waiters have very little patience when it comes to serving customers.
Just have a photo of me carrying two packs of Yat Lok roasted duck rice, thanks to my tireless photographer.
So, we continued on our walking journey to Victoria peak.....
![]() |
Finally got our tix Bought hkd 84/ pax: one return tram ticket + skydeck view. We waited from bright to dusk to night! Here is the chronological sequence of the iew from the skydeck!
Ended up lining up for about an hour to buy tickets to board the tram up to the peak. We did not really mind because the weather was very comfortable. Not too cold, not too hot.
5pm
5.45pm
6.15pm
6.30pm
It was freezing cold as we waited because the wind kept blowing (duh, the skydeck is where the highest point is) and to make matters worse, it was drizzling unceasingly. Cis. Anyhow, just remember to wear thicker clothing and bring a warm jacket with you if you intend to wait though the evening! You'll be fine that way.
All tired out from the cold and adverse weather we quickly headed back to our hotel to rest. We decided to just take away beef brisket noodles from a famous restaurant nearby our hotel: SISTER
WAH BEEF BRISKET AT TIN HAU! This was what we ordered and brought home to our hotel to pig out...
Dan Dan noodle with thick gravy. BF loved this but I did not enjoy it as much though. Worth a try because it is not a common noodle to be found back home.
This is the fried katsu chicken which comes with the noodles above. Not bad tasting but without gravy here. Kinda dry.
Day 3
Headed out around 9am and had no idea what breakfast to eat. After doing a few rounds of searching for shops nearby our hotel, we decided to enter the
nearby Mak’s wanton noodle (quality and taste very different to the original
one in Central)
These two cups of chinese tea is not for drinking, they are for dipping your chopsticks in them for washing. Correct me I am wrong!
After breakfast, headed to Tin Hau MTR to go to Central MTR. Interchange at Central MTR to Sunny Bay MTR. Sunny Bay MTR interchange to Disneyland MTR. Reached disneyland around 11.30am!!! I would say the highlight of this trip was two main things: food and... DISNEYLAND! You may think you would wanna give it a pass as Disneyland is normally for kids esp if you know Hong Kong Disneyland is not big. Don't think like that! No matter what age you are, Disneyland caters to both young and the old!

Funny caption: When you hear "do-do-do", please stop.
The infamous Disneyland MTR.
Our colourful Disneyland Toy Story theme ticketes!
Waiting in line for the Jungle Cruise
Things you see when on board the jungle cruise
We chose to eat at the Tahitian cafe in Adventure land and it was a right choice because the
portion of food here is bigger. One thing we should have thought of prior to ordering was to share the
food during lunch because the portion was big, and consequently save the other meal voucher
for teatime so we did not have to pay for tea time.
The meal he ordered in the Tahitian Cafe, Adventureland.
The meal he ordered in the Tahitian Cafe, Adventureland.
This was the teatime we had after a long "gaming" day. Fish sandwich with chips and a drink. This cost HKD95 (translates to about RM50 omg). Total rip off
We left Disneyland around 9pm and reached Fortress MTR around 9 something to grab
some snacks and tong yun (glutinous rice balls). | This eggette was really really good and is a must try. Just alight the MTR and come down from the bridge and you will see this on your right (there is a Mc Donald's on your left) |
Again, upon reaching the Tin Hau MTR, we quickly went to Sister Wah Beef Brisket to take
away some beef noodles for dinner.| Sister Wah Beef Brisket Noodles |
Soup
This was something from the same shop. Dan dan Noodles in thick gravy.
So, the food highlight of the night ( and perhaps for the day too) was this:
FOOK YUEN GLUTINOUS RICE BALL!!!
Look at this!!!! The "tong yun" were so huge and it was worth the money and worth the effort of getting this from opposite the Fortress MTR.

Black sesame glutinous rice balls are to die for. I do not fancy the ginger soup but yes, the balls are something you have to try when in HK!
Day 4
The fourth day was souvenirs and walkabout-in-Mong Kok day. We travelled to Mong Kok district and alighted at the Prince Edward MTR and walked to this place: KAM WAH CAFE
Jin華冰廳
The milk tea was good :)
So after a hearty breakfast, we roamed Mong Kok area in search for local things and souvenirs. Went to stroll at the market places like "lui yan kai (women's market)", goldfish street, etc. It was really tiring to be walking up and down as we gathered more and more souvenirs and when both our hands held plastic bags filled with our purchases. So, we decided to head back to Tin Hau to put our shopping down before going back again. So you see, it isn't the best of ideas to stay so far from Mong Kok if you really intend to shop there.
This was good! Minced meat with rice. Tastes really great.
Carbonara with smoke duck. The portion was small coz it was meant to be teatime since we were there around 4pm.
![]() |
We went back to the same restaurant 101 for dinner. Not bad food with nice drinks.
Day 5
Finally we managed to taste the infamous food at Australian Dairy Company in Jordan before we flew back home.
Steamed milk was awesome. Less sweet compared to Yee Shun.
The milk tea was good. The pasta with ham was actually good though it looks bland.
Scramble egg and toast was awesome. The eggs were really fluffy and soft.
OK This was at the airport. Savouring my final dish at the airport , not bad this wantan noodle.
Adieu! Back to homeland. Time to get back to reality. But.. we will be back, Hong Kong!
