Starlux Review (KL-TPE)

Starlux (Msia- Taipei) Review!

Hey guys!

So I chose to fly with Starlux to Taipei Taoyuan this round since I've heard of so many good reviews.

Let's start with me trying to access the lounge in KLIA.

I wasn't aware that my card do not give me the access to the Traveller's lounge after the KLIA bus ride to the boarding gate area. So after frantically searching on my phone for another alternative lounge to access after the bus ride, I finally spotted this place...

The Flight Club..

At first I thought to myself, hmmm, there is barely any traveler dining here, there was just one couple and a lone Caucasian there. Food must be not as good as the plaza premium lounge before the bus ride.

To my amaze, they actually serve full main dishes here! Check it out:

They even serve big breakfast when it was 3pm.
I have to admit the menu is limited but it's sufficient because I just needed a place to sit and wait for my flight. So I ordered a salmon croissant and cappuccino latte:

While I was waiting, another couple came into the lounge and ordered one set of big breakfast, a bowl of dried scallop porridge, beer and other unlimited amount of drinks! By the way, the waiter mentioned that I can order unlimited food and drinks here! OMG. But yeah, how much can one eat right..

view from where I was seated..

OK, next up! The flight!

Finally boarded the plane.

That's another "extra legroom" seat at the EXIT. Spacious, huh?

So, I booked the seat next to the exit just so I get my "extra legroom" requirement checked.
For those of you who know me, I really cannot bear the cramp and narrow space on board since i have claustrophobia ( I think).

Sleek and nice upholstery

They serve mocktails too, this is one of the two mocktail flavour to choose from!
This was named twilight mojito, and it's made up of.. orange, rum, and green tea.
Twas quite refreshing but the rum was overpowering for me, but that's just me lah.
They say this is the better tasting one compared to the blue coloured mocktail.

Close up of my Twilight Mojito

These sesame rice crackers were served together with the welcome drink.

I chose beef brisket+ mash. Tasted really good.
But no ice cream.

Then it was light out and galaxy starwars feel for snoozing before.

All in all, I think starlux is good now because it is a NEW airline with really sharp, large and touch-sensitive entertainment screen, and appetising food. One thing I appreciate was the free wi-fi connectivity on board throughout the flight for whatsapp texting (only). Service-wise, the cabin crew were generally very courteous and friendly but the only drawback was the flight attendant noted down that I requested for an eye-mask but forgotten to give one to me, and I had to request a second time before they handed one to me.

If you ask me whether I'd travel STarlux again for the KL-TPE route, it'd be yes because everything is satisfactory and there's no major issue so far. So, choose to travel Starlux if you haven't while the airline is still NEW!

See ya in my next TPE post! Till then, have fun and take care!

YAYOI, providing People with Set Meals called “Teishoku”

At YAYOI, we prepare teishoku with a healthy balance of dishes on a single tray. These set meals contain freshly-cooked rice, the staple food of the Japanese people, accompanied by miso soup and other main and side dishes.
We at YAYOI will continue our efforts to promote the unique styles and wisdom of Japanese food culture to the world through our teishoku dishes.
YAYOI, taking traditional Japanese cuisine into the world and the future.

Order using this tablet. Looks sleeker and classy compared to the ones in Sushi King. Looks like an iPad.

The ambience of this place is really good.

Pork katsu teishoku. Delicious and not too dry according to my friend.

Gyudon with egg. Very delicious because the beef was marinated well with the japanese sweet sauce.

Pouring the egg into my gyudon

This is the marinated pork cutlet set.

The place is really cosy and serene, very comfy. Recommended if you''re looking for a relaxed place and good meal with your family and friends.

Us again at our seat

D ordered this eel set and it was served like that, with that "manual/ instruction" on how to enjoy the eel rice.

This square ladle is filled with dashi soup. Their soups are not heavy tasting, very light as compared to the ones served at other japanese restaurants.

Supposed to pour out into the cup?

Just a shot to feature this cup coz I find it really cute.

This is the unagi my dad ordered. Not bad, tastes quite light but eel was fresh.

Would definitely come here again mostly for the ambience and the affordable yet tasty japanese food.

Bentong Eats

Hi all,
Went to Bentong, a peaceful and humble town in the state of Pahang.
It's a small, town just further down from the bustling Genting Highlands and Bukit Tinggi.
After approximately an hour drive from KL (Kuala Lumpur), have a look at what we managed to eat:

Musang King Durian!
Rich and delicious, but personally i preferred D24.
It was cheap too, about rm40 for this one fruit!

Shop was by the roadside.
Typical Malaysian Style of selling stuff by the main highway.

Normally, we find the usual flat toast in KL when we order butter and kaya
(a traditional jam made from coconut, eggs and sugar) toast,
but here they gave us toasted croissant! Fancy!

The chilled coffee was good

Some very innovative shaved ice.
It tasted .. OK.

Bentong is famous for really fresh Tau Fu Pok (beancurd)!
We bought quite a few packets back home to cook for our meals.
It's cheaper and fresher to buy em here
The usual fruits can be found in the morning wet market

Bentong is actually very famous for their ginger.
Missed taking photos of the ginger in the market and ginger candies,
so here's a mural of the ginger there to compensate. HAHA!

Comic coffee at jalan mahogany, klang

Hello there.
Went to meet up with friend for a brief bakkut teh (pork ribs soupy dish) session at samy and min bakkut teh, bandar botanical:

三美肉骨茶(BOTANIC)Samy&Min bak kut teh.
According to our well-verse goodie from klang the main branch is at Pandamaran (the other part of klang).

Overall the bak kut teh was good, the meat was tender I suppose because it was thoroughly cooked. We could tell that the meat was flavorful enough most likely because it was infused in the ribs soup sufficiently long while cooking.

We headed to GM mall to check out... The place.  Though imma a Malaysian and live in msia, I have not ventured much in klang coz it is far from where I work and live.

At about 7pm, we headed to fruity bakery in hopes to grab some of their infamous Perth apple strudel. Unfortunately, they sold off the strudels but thanks to our friend and the bf, we finally managed to chill out at this nice cafe called comic coffee..

Nutella cake.  We all agreed that this is better than the kitkat cake

The kit kat cake

Rose hot chocolate

Rose latte

Altogether now

Hazelnut latte

Recommended when u need to chillax with a fanciful cup of coffee.. 😂😂

Oishi Japanese Food Delivery

Dear readers,

I have a bunch of very food savvy colleagues who are very competent in searching for food delivery services from time to time. Food delivery is convenient if you do not mind paying a little extra, and especially when you are not willing to drive out in search for a simple lunch. Of course, most of the time, the portion is small and price is on the high side, so we are always on the lookout for reasonably priced, and reasonably portioned meals on wheels!

So, the latest discovery by one of my colleagues was this:

The food portion is just enough.
Here is their menu:

The price is very reasonable! However, they charge a delivery fee of RM10, but if 10 people order, it will just be RM1 extra per person.

So here are the food photos IRL (in real life):

The box is so cute!
Saba and softshell crab Bento set- RM15!
Colleagues think this is totally worth it for RM15.
Tastes good and portion is sufficient.
D3 Chicken Teriyaki Don- RM6.50 only!
Choose this for a healthier alternative.

Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon bento set: RM16

Hmmm, not sure which this is
Saba fish with rice - RM10.
The mackerel was a huge slice!
This is my ultimate fav: Chicken Katsu with Mayo! RM 8!
